We are looking for an experienced Evening Maintenance Technician to join our 2nd shift (3:00 pm - 11:00 pm) Maintenance Team. Bring your knowledge, skills, experience, and passion to Creighton University.

Our Maintenance Technicians are critical to the universityâ??s success. They are responsible for keeping the university operational 24x7. Our maintenance department follows a generalist model and will be responsible for senior-level maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial and residential electrical systems, plumbing systems, heating/air conditioning systems and a variety of kitchen equipment.

Essential Functions:

Commercial and residential building maintenance and repairs to include:

â?¢ Troubleshooting and repairs on electrical systems to include lighting/ receptacles/ ballasts, motors.

â?¢ Plumbing troubleshooting, replacement, and repairs on plumbing fixtures, waste, condensate, storm drains, the use of drain machines to unclog and open drains, and steam/condensate/chill water applications. Some kitchen equipment where applicable.

â?¢ Preventative maintenance on HVAC systems, filters, AHUs, ventilation/exhaust, furnaces, and air conditioning. Hydronic and heating water systems.

Responsible for continual preventative maintenance on all systems and equipment. Participates in ongoing technical, safety, and operational process training programs and implements strategies into their daily work.

Complete computer-required tasks as needed and other duties as assigned, including working weekends and during high academic times, if needed.

Qualifications:

â?¢ High school diploma or equivalent is required. Some level of post-secondary education is preferred, but not required (i.e. technical / trade school, college, or university studies).

â?¢ Valid and current driverâ??s license required.

â?¢ Minimum of 2-5+ years of building maintenance experience in a Commercial setting with a strong knowledge of HVAC equipment, electrical, and plumbing systems. Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems is strongly desired.

â?¢ Formal training in HVAC, plumbing, and/or electrical systems is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

â?¢ Successful candidates will be a self-starter with excellent communication skills.

â?¢ Strong focus on customer service and creating positive interactions with internal and external clients.

â?¢ Must be highly motivated with high energy that excels in unique challenges and thrives under pressure and efficiency.

â?¢ Ability to be â??on-callâ? on a rotational schedule.

â?¢ Team members are expected to have basic computer skills.

â?¢ Ability to work outside at various temperatures (summer/winter).

â?¢ Knowledge with replacing lights, ballasts, retrofitting, and converting florescent, metal halide and HPS to LED lighting.

â?¢ Knowledge of troubleshooting and diagnosing faulty electrical circuitry, pumps, motors, motor controls, science lab equipment, kitchen equipment (commercial and residential), exhaust fans. Install and/or troubleshoot equipment, emergency generator load testing and systems.

â?¢ Knowledge of safety procedures, troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, and conducting preventative maintenance on steam/ condensation, chill water, and hydronic systems. Pressure reducing valves (PRVs), steam traps, controls, condensate pumps, and strainers.

â?¢ Ability to troubleshoot/diagnose and repair basic to intermediate plumbing applications.

â?¢ Experience in operating manual and electric drain machines.

â?¢ Experience with diagnosing and repairing pumps, motors, air handler units, fan coil units, and exhaust fans.

â?¢ Experience with diagnosing and repairing commercial and residential kitchen equipment is a plus but not required.

â?¢ Work as a team to complete any projects assigned and mentor other technicians.

â?¢ Strong problem-solving/troubleshooting skills with an understanding of cost and time.

â?¢ Must have organization, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills.

â?¢ Senior-level experience and providing direction and guidance of work to junior-level mechanics, preferred.

Licenses/Certifications:

Must have a current and valid driver's license with a clean driving record for the last 3 years and no major violations within the last 5 years.
